About the Wrist-Hand Orthosis
This assignment has a confidential nature and thus the assignment and resulting design cannot be discussed in detail.
A wrist-hand orthosis is often worn by patients with a muscle spasm in one or both hands. A muscle spasm is a sudden, involuntary movement in one or more muscles. In the case of a muscle spasm in the hand, it is common for the hand and fingers to turn inward, forming a fist. A wrist-hand orthosis supports the hand and prevents the muscles from being constantly contracted.
With this redesign of the wrist-hand orthosis, both the fitting process and the production process of the orthosis are simplified, creating a better experience for both the patient and the orthopedic specialist. This was achieved by developing a new fitting process and using 3D-printing as the main production method.
